The Arkansas State University Concert Choir has long been known in the
Southern United States for choral excellence. For 33 years under the direction of
the late Mr. Alfred R. Skoog, former Director of Choral Activities, the Male
Chorus, Female Chorus and Concert Choir were presented on state and national
convention programs, at Lincoln Center and on international tours. Under the
direction of Dr. Dale Miller, Director of Choral Activities since 1997, the choirs
made their first appearance in Carnegie Hall in March 2000. The Concert Choir
has recently sung with professional orchestras from New York and Poland.
The most recent addition to the choral program, the 18-voice Chamber Singers,
now in their eighth year, present the traditional Madrigal Feaste.
This spring the Concert Choir traveled to Eastern Europe and performed
the Mozart Requiem in Krakow, Poland, with the Orchestra of the Krakow
Opera The Men’s Choir performed by invitation at the Southwest American
Choral Directors Association Convention, in St. Louis.
