Jonesboro
Our “University Town” is fairly big town of over 80,000 people. It is sprawling with malls, movie theatres, restaurants, and various other entertaining places. Moreover, some major big cities are not far from our town: Memphis is just 1 hour away, the capital of Arkansas–Little Rock–is just 2 hours of drive, and St. Louis is just 4 hours from here.
ISA and ISO
You would
be happy to know that there are over 250 international students in our college
and quite a few from India too. We have an organization for all Internationals
called the International Student Association (ISA) that takes care of all the
events and activities for International Students.
We also have a special organization called the Indian Student
Organization, which is open to all Indians in the United States, especially
students. There are over 25 Indian families in Jonesboro and lot more in the
suburb cities. ISO organizes a lot of cultural events and activities and
get-togethers like Garba-Raas, Diwali parties, etc with our Indian students and
families in and from out of towns; we truly have a blast during these events,
and we would love to have you join our organization.
Transportation
As we have already acknowledged to you that Memphis is the closest big city to our town, we would like you to give us an advance notice (at least 5 days in advance) about your arrival time to Memphis and one representative will certainly pick you up form the Airport. We are here to help you in every way we can.
Miscellaneous
There are some things that would like to bring to your notice. Things like the fact that Textbooks are expensive here ($ 30 - $ 120+), hence we would like to remind you to bring those textbooks like HTML, Java, C++, etc from India that are common everywhere. However, all the course textbooks are only available here at ASU. There is other stuff that we will help you with once you get here.
